Animal Surgeries

overview

our veterinary surgery unit at Mukisa Veterinary Clinic is fully equipped to perform both minor and major surgical operations on livestock, pets, and wildlife. Each procedure is conducted under strict hygienic conditions and complete anesthesia control, ensuring safety, precision, and effective recovery.

Our surgical operations are handled by a team of qualified veterinary surgeons from Makerere University and Egerton University, supported by trained veterinary nurses and anesthetists. We combine modern techniques with compassionate care to guarantee the best outcomes for every animal treated in our facility.

Surgical Services We Offer

Spaying and Neutering

Spaying and neutering are routine reproductive control surgeries designed to prevent unwanted breeding and improve animal health. These procedures also reduce the risk of ovarian, uterine, and testicular cancers while minimizing aggressive behavior and wandering in pets. We carry out each operation under anesthesia with careful pre-surgical evaluation and post-surgical follow-up for smooth recovery.

Tumor and Cyst Removal

Our team conducts surgical excision of tumors, cysts, and growths affecting skin, muscles, or internal organs. Each mass is examined to determine its type and extent before removal. Post-surgical tissue samples can be sent to our diagnostic lab for histopathological testing when needed. This approach ensures accurate diagnosis, clean healing, and prevention of recurrence.

Fracture Repair and Bone Realignment

For animals injured through accidents or bone trauma, we provide advanced orthopedic surgery for fracture repair and bone realignment. Our surgeons use methods such as bone plating, pinning, or external fixation to restore limb structure and function. Following surgery, animals receive pain management, physiotherapy guidance, and consistent checkups to ensure complete recovery and restored mobility.

Cesarean Section (C-Section)

When animals face difficulty during labor, our surgeons perform Cesarean sections to safely deliver offspring and protect maternal health. This life-saving procedure is performed under general anesthesia using sterile techniques to reduce stress and infection risk. After surgery, both mother and offspring are closely monitored for temperature, feeding, and wound healing.

Dental and Soft Tissue Surgeries

Our clinic also carries out dental and soft tissue surgeries for both pets and livestock. These include tooth extractions, oral abscess drainage, hernia repairs, wound closure, and removal of foreign bodies. Every procedure is done with attention to detail, pain control, and aseptic care to promote comfort and rapid healing.

Our Surgical Approach

Our surgical approach is centered on patient safety, efficiency, and post-operative care. Before any surgery, animals undergo thorough physical examination and anesthesia risk assessment. During the operation, anesthesia is continuously monitored to maintain stable heart rate, temperature, and respiration.

After surgery, our veterinary team provides pain management, antibiotics, wound dressing, and nutritional support to aid recovery. We maintain clear communication with owners, offering detailed post-operative instructions and follow-up visits to ensure full healing. Each case is documented for medical records and ongoing evaluation.
